Terms of service
Last updated 18 August 2026. Qrosshatch is a service operated by Foxbit Software.
These are the terms you agree to when you use Qrosshatch. Please read the sections on acceptable use and on liability particularly.
Who you are agreeing with
Qrosshatch is operated by Foxbit Software ("we", "us", "our"), based in Manitoba, Canada. In these terms, "you" means whoever holds the account.
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use Qrosshatch.
What the service does
Qrosshatch gives you a stable web address for a QR code. You choose where that address sends people, and you can change the destination later without changing the code itself. That is the whole product.
You are responsible for the destination you choose and for the code once you have printed or published it.
Your account
You need an account to create codes. You agree to give us an email address that reaches you, to keep your sign-in credentials to yourself, and to tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account.
You are responsible for what happens under your account.
What it costs
Qrosshatch is free to use. We do not charge to create, manage, or redirect codes.
We will not charge you to keep codes you have already created working. If we ever introduce charges, they will not apply to codes that existed on your account before the change — those codes keep redirecting on the terms they already had, and we will not switch them off or degrade them to make you pay.
This is a promise about charging, not a guarantee that the service runs forever. Discontinuation is covered under If we discontinue the service below.
We may offer paid plans or paid features in future, set different limits for new codes, and change what a new account gets. If we introduce any charge that would apply to you, we will give you notice by email to the address on your account before it takes effect.
Limits
Each account can hold a set number of codes — 100 by default. If you need a higher limit, ask through the support form.
We may apply reasonable rate limits, and may decline requests that look automated or abusive.
What you may not point a code at
A Qrosshatch code sends anyone who scans it wherever you tell it to. You may not use a code, or the destination behind it, to:
- distribute malware, or anything designed to damage or gain unauthorised access to a device or system;
- run a phishing, impersonation, or other deceptive scheme;
- distribute material that is illegal in Canada, including child sexual abuse material;
- harass, threaten, or defame anyone;
- infringe someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights;
- send people somewhere materially different from what the code, its surroundings, or its printed context led them to expect;
- disguise the source of traffic in order to evade a filter, a block, or a security control;
- circumvent, overload, or interfere with the service or the infrastructure it runs on.
We may disable a code, or an account, without notice if we believe it is being used for any of the above, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
If you find a Qrosshatch code being misused, report it through the support form.
How we check destinations
When you save a destination, and from time to time afterwards, we check the address against published lists of phishing and malware sites. If an address is on one, we will refuse to save it, or stop sending scans to a code already pointing there. The code itself is not deleted and the rest of your account is unaffected.
This is an automated list lookup, not a review of your site. We do not read your pages, we do not judge your content, and a destination passing the check is not us saying anything about it. Everything under What you may not point a code at remains your responsibility whether or not any list has heard of it.
Lists get things wrong. If we have blocked a destination you believe is fine, tell us through the support form and we will look at it. We can clear a block on our side without waiting for the list to correct itself.
Your content
Your codes, your destinations, and the files you upload remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
You give us permission to store and serve that content only so far as we need to in order to run the service for you — to hold a logo so it can be drawn into your code, for example, or to serve a redirect when someone scans.
You confirm you have the rights to whatever you upload.
Availability
We work to keep Qrosshatch running, but we do not guarantee it will be available without interruption. Maintenance, outages at our providers, and faults all happen.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that applies to you, those exclusions do not apply, and the rest of this section still stands.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or the cost of replacing printed material, arising out of your use of Qrosshatch.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to CAD $100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
If we discontinue the service
If we decide to shut Qrosshatch down, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email to the address on your account, so that you have time to replace anything you have already printed.
When the service ends, codes stop resolving. Please keep this in mind when you decide how widely to print a code and how long it needs to last.
Ending your account
You can close your account at any time by asking through the support form. Closing it deletes your codes, and anything already printed will stop working immediately.
We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if your account is used unlawfully, or if we are required to by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will give you notice by email to the address on your account before it takes effect.
Continuing to use Qrosshatch after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the courts of Manitoba have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or from your use of the service.
